Terms of Service

Last Updated: October 8, 2026

Welcome to BorderBudget. By downloading, installing, or using the BorderBudget mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use BorderBudget. By using the App, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are under 18, do not use this App.

2. App Purpose

BorderBudget provides digital nomads and independent travelers with tools for expense tracking, trip planning, visa timeline monitoring, rental listings, and access to crowdsourced travel infrastructure data. The App also lets you pair your account with a travel partner to share limited trip information, and to prepare emergency information you can access or share if your phone is lost or stolen. The App is for personal, non-commercial use.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

Free Trial

New users receive a free trial period before any charge is made. The trial length is displayed at the time of sign-up. No payment is collected during the trial.

Auto-Renewal

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly, every 6 months, or annually, depending on your selected plan) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

Pricing

Current subscription prices are displayed in the App at the time of purchase. We will notify you before any price change affects your renewal.

Cancellation

You may cancel at any time through your app store account's subscription settings (Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, depending on your device). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you retain full access until then.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by the app store you purchased through (Google Play or Apple), in accordance with that store's refund policy. We do not issue refunds directly.

Free Plan After Your Trial or a Lapse

If your free trial ends or your subscription lapses, your account moves to our free plan rather than being locked. Your data is preserved, and you keep access to core features, including contributing to the community map. Some features, such as your full trip, budget and border-crossing history, exporting your crossing log, and certain map tools, require an active subscription. You can resubscribe at any time to restore full access.

4. Visa and Immigration Disclaimer

BorderBudget's visa tracking features — including Schengen countdowns, tax residency warnings, and document expiration alerts — are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal or immigration advice. BorderBudget LLC is not a licensed immigration authority. You are solely responsible for verifying current entry requirements with official government sources before traveling.

5. Community Contributions

By submitting crowdsourced data (work spot ratings, WiFi measurements, medical costs, transit wait times, rental listings and reviews, or similar), you grant BorderBudget LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute that data to other App users. You agree to submit only accurate, non-manipulated data. We reserve the right to remove entries that compromise the integrity of community maps.

6. Rental Listings

BorderBudget provides a platform for users to post and browse rental listings, but is not a party to, and does not broker, verify, or guarantee, any rental transaction, listing, or communication between users. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of any listing you post, including any contact information (email, phone number, or messaging link) you provide, and you confirm you have the right and permission to share any contact information belonging to someone else, such as a landlord or property manager. Exercise the same caution you would with any third-party classifieds platform before entering into a rental agreement or sending money based on a listing found in the App.

7. Couples / Partner Pairing

Pairing your account with a travel partner shares a display name derived from your email address, and may share additional trip or budget information depending on which sharing features you enable. You are responsible for confirming the identity of anyone you pair with. Either paired user may unpair at any time, which stops any further sharing going forward.

8. Emergency Access (Lifeline)

Lifeline helps you store and share information you choose to enter so it is available if your phone is lost or stolen. It is a convenience, not an emergency service. Emergency numbers are reference information and can change. If you are in danger, call local emergency services first. BorderBudget is not an emergency service and cannot send help, locate you, or contact anyone on your behalf.

Emergency numbers, embassy and consulate details, and similar reference information may be incomplete or out of date; verify them locally. Information on a Break-Glass card is entered by you and has not been verified by BorderBudget LLC. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, for deciding who receives your card's share code and PINs, and for having permission to include other people's contact details (such as trusted contacts). Anyone who has your share code and PIN can view your card, and we are not responsible for how they use the information. Cards expire, and Lifeline may be unavailable if you have no connection or our service is down, so do not rely on it as your only backup. Do not enter passwords or account recovery codes.

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
• Submit false or misleading crowdsourced data, including rental listings for properties you do not have the right to list
• Use automated tools to scrape or harvest data from the App
• Share your account credentials with other people

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. You may request export or deletion of your data before termination by contacting developer@borderbudget.com.

11. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, branding, source code, and content created by BorderBudget LLC, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that any data (including visa calculations, exchange rates, rental listings, emergency numbers, or embassy and consulate information) will be accurate or complete.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BorderBudget LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including data loss, travel disruptions, rental disputes, lost or stolen devices, unavailability of or reliance on Lifeline or emergency information, or decisions made based on App calculations.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by displaying a notice in the App at least 7 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
