See what other travelers actually paid, before you walk into the clinic.
Getting treated in another country usually means guessing the price. Clinics rarely publish one, and travelers are often quoted a different figure than locals. BorderBudget has a map of medical costs reported by other travelers, so you can see what real people paid for a specific procedure at a specific facility.
A short video on how medical costs work in the app. It loads from YouTube only when you press play.
After a visit, you can add the procedure, the cost and whether English was spoken. It takes under a minute, and it helps the next traveler. You can optionally scan your receipt to mark your cost as verified. The scan is read on your phone, the image is never uploaded, and only the procedure name and the cost are kept.
The figures are averages of traveler reports, not price lists or quotes. They can be out of date, and they depend on the clinic, the day and your insurance. BorderBudget does not give medical advice, rate the quality of care or recommend treatments, and has not verified every report. Always confirm the price with the facility. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

Get BorderBudget on Google Play Get BorderBudget on the App StoreWhere do the medical cost figures come from?
They are real costs reported by other travelers for specific procedures at specific facilities, not list prices. A receipt scan is optional and is not required to submit a cost.
Is the price I see what I will pay?
No. Each figure is an average of what other travelers reported paying, shown in your home currency. Prices vary by clinic, by day and by your insurance, so treat the figure as a rough guide and confirm the price with the facility before treatment.
Is searching medical costs free?
Yes. Viewing medical costs and adding your own are free for everyone in the BorderBudget app.
What happens to my receipt if I scan one?
The scan is read on your phone and the image is never uploaded. Only the procedure name and the cost are stored, and a scanned cost is shown with a verified mark to other travelers.
Does BorderBudget give medical advice?
No. BorderBudget shows what other travelers reported paying. It does not recommend treatments, rate the quality of care or replace a doctor. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
